A review of Tray Kitchen ... written after a delicious French 75...
So...I haven't posted since, February? Well, eeps- I mean I've been making lots if acrylic paintings? One can only have so many side projects? My sister and mom are probably the only ones who will read this? Excuses, excuses...
I DID want to raise awareness of a fabulous new restaurant in Fremont. So here's my first 'review' on the blog. Tray Kitchen has been up and running since the end of October; and is currently serving the best chicken I've had in a while. As in, YOU probably should've gone there yesterday.
There is a short menu that lists out their regular plates- while rotating specials are brought (ready-to-eat!) right up to your tableside. The restaurant occupies a newly renovated, nicely laid out space at 4012 Leary Way NW in Seattle; they open at 5:00pm daily. (Happy hour-50% off the rotating items from the tray-also happens to start at 5:00pm!)
What you should order: A delightfully refreshing French 75 ($7 on happy hour), the K.F.C. 'Korean Fried Chicken' ($10 half / $20/whole), and the pan seared black cod in dashi broth ($16). The chicken is addictive; a perfect blend of spicy, crispy, sweet, sticky-delightful messiness. You'll need that wet nap for sure. The black cod was perfectly seared, tender and emersed in a delicious light broth- then scattered with sautéed shitake mushrooms.
We tried three of the rotating dishes, which were all great- but the chicken and cocktail will bring me back!
The staff were all lovely and helpful-five dishes and two cocktails later the bill was reasonable (under $65).
Check it out!
